We are heading to West Texas for the hunt you’ve all been waiting for: an epic sandhill crane hunt with our friends over at Tejas Waterfowl. You might also know them as Northern Skies Outfitters while they are chasing snow geese in Arkansas or Canada!
Crane hunting is one of the fastest growing species in the waterfowl world to hunt and for good reason...they decoy like a dream! The Texas Panhandle winters thousands of cranes that give you plenty of action. If you are like us and watching birds come right into the spread gives you all the feels then this trip is for you! The guides are happy to clean your birds or they will show each of you in detail how to clean them yourselves. Sandhill Crane meat is called Ribeye of the sky because it is so delicious so be sure to bring a cooler to pack your meat home with you!
The cost of this trip will be $940 which will include two mornings of guided hunting and two nights of lodging at our beautiful Airbnb in Abernathy, Texas. Plan to arrive the evening of Friday, January 7 to the Airbnb to settle in and get to know each other. We will hunt Saturday and Sunday morning, and plan to head home sometime in the afternoon on Sunday!

Newly built modern farmhouse perfect for peaceful getaways. You will love the stocked kitchen with white quartz. A custom 9’ farm table is made for 10. Fast fiber internet for streaming your devices and a 4K 55’ TV in the living room. The downstairs also has a large bathroom and Murphy bed. Upstairs has 2 queen bedrooms, a full bathroom with laundry, and a bunk room with 2 queen beds and a twin. A covered porch overlooks the Horseshoe & fire pit, stock tank pool, and amazing valley sunsets!
Our place is built for peace and family. Wide open spaces await you on the 133 acre ranch. Walk around the place. Relax and breathe the fresh air. Watch the animals graze and take in some of the best sunsets you will ever see. Take a dip in the stock tank pool or sun on the pool deck. Play a game of horseshoes or enjoy a drink on the shaded front porch chairs. And when night falls, light the fire pit and take in the stars.
This trip is $940 and will be broken up between a non-refundable deposit of $235 and three payments after that of $235.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: A Texas hunting license, Waterfowl Stamp, Crane Permit, HIP Certification, and your firearm certification are necessary.
THINGS TO PACK:
Shotgun & Shells: We recommend a 12- or 20-gauge shotgun with 2 - BB for shotgun shell size.
Choke - Improved or Modified Cylinder: Either choke is fine. Some prefer custom chokes and that's great too.
Hunting License, Certs, and Permits: License, Waterfowl Stamp, Crane Permit, HIP Certification, and firearm certification.
Warm Boots. Gloves, & Clothing: The key is to be prepared for any kind of weather that Mother Nature can throw at us during the season.
Rain Gear: Just in case of a rainy morning, we recommend packing some rain gear as well.
Cooler: To take home your wild game.
Gun Cleaning Supplies: It's never a bad idea to have your gun cleaning kit with you!
Camera: You'll definitely will want a camera with to document the hunt!
