SHINGLETON, MI | WOMEN’S DOG SLEDDING WEEKEND
TOTAL COST: $725 | DEPOSIT: $225 (THIS IS NON REFUNDABLE)
REGISTRATION OPENS: FRIDAY 07/03/2026
COORDINATOR: KENDALL BENTLY
There is something magical about winter in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Snow-covered pine forests, frozen waterfalls, crisp northern air, and quiet trails create the perfect setting for a true winter wilderness experience. This weekend is designed for the women who crave adventure, connection, and the kind of memories that stay with you long after the season ends. We are heading back to the Upper Peninsula for one of the most unique winter experiences we offer, an unforgettable dog sledding adventure through the snowy backcountry of northern Michigan.
At the heart of this trip is a full day spent with the incredible team at Husky Haven Kennels, where you will step into the world of traditional mushing and experience the thrill of driving your own dog sled through peaceful winter trails surrounded by towering forests and fresh snow. Our Saturday will be dedicated to learning the sport of dog sledding from experienced mushers and getting to know the hardworking Alaskan Huskies that make this experience possible. You will learn how the sleds work, how to work with the dogs, and then head out on an 8 to 10 mile guided sled run through the Upper Peninsula wilderness. No prior experience is needed, and you will be supported every step of the way.
This experience is equal parts exhilarating, peaceful, empowering, and unforgettable. There is truly nothing like hearing the sled glide quietly across fresh snow while working together with your team of dogs through the forest. After our dog sledding adventure, the rest of Saturday will remain flexible based on weather conditions and group interest. Depending on conditions, we may explore additional Upper Peninsula winter gems including:
• Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
• Ice caves and frozen shoreline formations
• Scenic winter overlooks and waterfalls
• Cozy local shops and cafés
• Hidden Upper Peninsula hot springs and sauna experiences
We will be staying together in a cozy Airbnb located just down the road from the kennel, creating the perfect relaxed atmosphere for connection and community throughout the weekend.
Plan to arrive Friday evening anytime after 4 P.M. Once everyone settles in, your coordinator will prepare a taco bar dinner so the group can relax, unwind, and get to know each other before our big adventure day. Light breakfast options will be available each morning, and Saturday’s lunch will be packed and enjoyed during our day at the kennel.
Saturday evening, we will head out for a hearty Yooper-style dinner to celebrate the day’s adventure and soak in the charm of the Upper Peninsula together.
Whether dog sledding has been sitting on your bucket list for years or you are simply looking for a unique winter getaway surrounded by adventurous women, this trip offers the perfect opportunity to experience something truly different in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Travel insurance
If you are planning to purchase travel insurance for your Her Wilderness trip, PLEASE purchase it NOW and do not wait until right before departure. Many travel insurance policies require coverage to be purchased within just a few days of your initial trip registration or first payment in order to qualify for the best and most comprehensive coverage options. Waiting too long can limit what is covered or completely remove eligibility for certain protections.
We highly encourage ALL Her Wilderness participants to purchase travel insurance shortly after registering for a trip. Ideally, travel insurance should be purchased within just a few days of booking in order to maximize your coverage options and help protect your investment.
Travel insurance can help provide protection for things such as:
• Flight cancellations or delays
• Lost or delayed baggage
• Rental car issues
• Unexpected medical emergencies
• Additional lodging expenses caused by travel disruptions
• Trip interruptions or cancellations
• Weather related delays
• Emergency transportation needs
While we sincerely hope every trip goes perfectly smoothly, travel is unpredictable and unexpected situations can happen. Having travel insurance in place can provide peace of mind and financial protection should something outside of your control arise before or during your adventure.
REGISTRATION & COMMUNICATION
All registrations are completed through the WeTravel platform, where you will receive confirmation and payment management support. After booking, your coordinator will contact you with next steps, access to your private trip group, and invitations to scheduled virtual meetings. To ensure communication is efficient and organized, coordinators will provide their preferred contact method and will not communicate through personal social media accounts.
