TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

Now THIS is the trip you have been waiting for. We are heading to visit Alaska like we’ve never experienced it before. We will be enjoying everything from a twilight nordic spa experience, to bear viewing, fly-in fishing trip, halibut fishing in the Halibut Capital of the World, Salmon fishing on the iconic Kenai Peninsula and so much more! Plan to arrive at the Anchorage Airport around 1pm on Sunday July 7th and prepare to depart from Anchorage Alaska after 5pm on Saturday July 13th. This trip is for the movers and shakers, we will be jumping from different lodging locations to fit as much into this trip as possible. Let’s take a look at your itinerary!

  • Day 1 Sunday July 7th - Our first evening will be spent together at the Alyeska Spa + Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. You will spend the night in the chateau-styled resort in a double queen suite with a beautiful view! Nestled in a lush valley surrounded by mountain peaks, hanging glaciers and spectacular ocean views, Alyeska Resort offers guests luxurious accommodations and convenient access to the magnificent Alaskan wilderness. After we get settled in we will take the tramway up to the top of the mountain and grab some apps, cocktails and enjoy the mountain views for a few hours. Once our bellies are full we will head back down to our rooms, bundle up in plush robes and head to the Nordic Spa at the resort for a twilight soak. This first night will be a great way to unwind after a day of traveling and bond with each other on the trip! (Lodging, Tramway Ticket and Twilight Spa Experience is included)

  • Day 2 Monday July 8th - The next morning we will depart from the resort and take a beautiful scenic drive to Soldotna, AK along the Sterling Highway. We will arrive at the Talon Air headquarters. After we check in we will spend our afternoon into the evening enjoying a bear viewing and float plane fishing experience. This is a full day experience (approx. 6 hrs.) You'll be flying to the west side of Cook Inlet to Redoubt Bay in a classic Alaskan style float plane. The flight is about 30 minutes. You will be surrounded by mountains and 10,000 ft. volcanoes can be seen on either side of the plane as you descend to the lake where a professional guide will transfer you into one of their 19-foot boats to begin your salmon fishing day. The guide provides spinning rods & reels, fishing tackle for salmon, rain gear, hip boots and bug repellant if needed. You will indeed see wildlife. There will be beavers, otters, ducks, loons, swans and bald eagles inhabit the area. Alaskan brown and black bears are there to fish for salmon and teach their cubs how to eventually do their own fishing. We can get you as close as 30 feet from these magnificent animals in the complete safety of your guide's boat while they go about their business of fishing and relaxing. The bears are fishing for a salmon meal in the same area the anglers are fishing. At the end of the trip, on the return flight, the pilot will take you into the mountains for a glacier fly over. This is weather permitting. There is a three salmon limit per person. After our day we will head to our lodging for the evening. We will get settled in and after our full day and relax for the evening.

  • Day 3 Tuesday July 9th - We will be up bright and early to salmon fish on the Iconic Kenai Peninsula. This time of year we will be able to fish the productive gravel bars located on the refuge waters of the upper Kasilof River. Not only can the fishing be excellent on this stretch of river, it is also minimally developed providing for an amazing Alaskan experience. Here it is common to see moose and other wildlife while drifting or slowly motoring this scenic 9 mile stretch of river. The salmon pushing through this fishery are fast traveling fish that are heavily influenced by the tides. This makes it important to keep an open mind on the possibility of an early morning start time to ensure we can put you on a productive spot. When fishing for sockeye salmon you may choose to use either conventional or fly gear. Our guides typically keep both in the boat at all times. Our guides promise to give you all the one-on-one teaching you need to become proficient at the very specific technique used to catch these fish. Don’t be surprised to find them standing next to you in the river helping correct technique and fine tuning your sockeye flossing skills. There is nothing they want more as guides than for you to catch fish and we will give as much effort on our end as it takes to help get you 100% dialed in. After a full day of fishing, we will be Sockeye flossing experts and we will then return back to our airbnb to unwind, shower and relax for the evening.

  • Day 4 Wednesday July 10th - Finally! Our first free day! We are in no rush, we can get a few extra hours of sleep and take off sometime in the morning towards Homer, AK. Depending on our lodging accommodations - we may head right to the Homer Spit or check into our Airbnb if it is available. You have an entire free afternoon/evening to do as you please! Just keep in mind that we will be waking up early the next morning for a half day of Halibut fishing.

  • Day 5 Thursday July 11th -  We will be up early as we can’t wait to go out for our 4th time with Captain Chelsea on the Irish Mist for a full day Halibut excursion! We will generally focus on targeting large halibut for the majority of the day, then—if needed—keep smaller fish to round out the limit during the last hour or two of fishing. However, the average sport halibut caught by Homer’s fleet is around 12 pounds, and some “big fish” trips result only in average catches. As a sportsman knows, that's the gamble of fishing. Some catch the fish of a lifetime on their first trip out, some fish for years and never do. It’s
the feeling that the next bait you drop could end up in the mouth of a 300 pound monster that keeps a fisherman coming back! The charter will give our fish to Homer Fish Processing. After a full day of fishing we are certain you will be exhausted, ready to grab some food and go back to relax and lounge for the rest of the evening!

  • Day 6 Friday July 12th - Wow! We have had a packed schedule so far and this is your free day to choose whatever you want. You may need a little break to recharge your batteries or you may want to book your own excursion somewhere off the Homer Spit. Do some research and be sure to let the others know what you plan on doing! The only to-do item we have this day will be at Homer Fish Processing, to pay for our fish and ship them or pack them to come home with us!

  • Day 7 Saturday July 13th - Depart the Airbnb at 11am and arrive to the Airport between 3:30-4:30pm (book flights for 5:30 or later)
