TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

Lace up your boots and get ready for a beautiful DIY weekend getaway at Pictured Rocks, located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Plan to arrive in Munising at the campground Thursday afternoon and depart on Sunday August 14th, for home. We will spend 2 full days hiking and exploring what Munising and Pictured Rocks has to offer. We will be able to see Lake Superior from the cliffs, hidden waterfalls, and even some spectacular lighthouses. When we have down time, we can explore the town, sit around the campfire or spend time on the beach looking for rocks and beach glass, as our campsites are located directly on Lake Superior! For meals we can cook over the campfire or find our way into town and check out what the restaurants have to offer.

Some places we will plan on hiking and checking out will be Miner’s falls, Log Slide Overlook, Au Sable Light Station, and Chapel Loop which includes Chapel Falls, Chapel Rock, Chapel Beach, and Mosquito River and Beach. With all that being said, as we will be so close to Lake Superior, it is recommended to pack clothes for warm and cooler weather as the weather can change in the snap of a finger.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS + REGULATIONS:

There are no licensing requirements for this trip. However, if you so choose to bring your own fishing pole and fish in any of the streams you will be required to obtain a Michigan Fishing License

MEET THE COORDINATOR

Whitney grew up in the UP of Michigan and now resides in Eastern Wisconsin. She enjoys any sort of hunting, fishing, and adventure out there and loves trying out new things. She also enjoys raising beef cows, spending time with her goats, and hunting with her dogs.

She didn’t grow up having much of a fishing and hunting background until 2017 when her boyfriend introduced her to hunting. From that moment on she was hooked, especially running hounds for coyotes. Whitney has been on multiple Her Wilderness trips, including bowfishing, pheasant hunting, grouse hunting, ice fishing, hog hunting, and fishing for catfish. Whitney looks forward to being able to help women get into the outdoors and experience so many awesome things and make a lot of amazing memories.

This trip is going to be an action-packed weekend hiking and adventuring in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and we hope you’ll join us! Please feel free to email questions@herwilderness.co with any questions about this trip!
