BELTON, SOUTH CAROLINA | TOWER SHOOT + UPLAND BIRD HUNT

TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
We are off to the upstate of South Carolina for a classic pheasant tower shoot, followed by an upland bird hunt. This hunt will include quail, pheasant, and chukar. Plan to arrive at 5PM sharp on Friday for a meet and greet with your fellow hunters, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Saturday morning we will wake up early and head to the field for our tower shoot. This tower shoot will be european style, meaning there will be 15 shooters in the field, rotating around the tower. Our guides will release 8 pheasants per shooter.. After our exciting tower shoot, we will head back to the lodge for a classic southern lunch. Saturday afternoon plan to head back into the field for an upland classic hunt, which will include pheasant, quail and chukar. After our hunt Saturday afternoon, we will gather around the lodge for good times and even better company! Sunday morning we will take part in a Prairie Classic driven pheasant hunt, allowing us one last opportunity to watch the dogs work their magic, and to fill the freezer! After our last adventure, we will head to a local restaurant for lunch before departure. Plan to depart around 2PM Sunday.
Beginners are welcomed! No hunting experience is necessary for this trip, but it is encouraged to educate yourself on gun safety before our trip.
LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS
Our base camp for the weekend will be a rustic hunting lodge located on our outfitters property. This lodge features 3 bedrooms (each with a bunk bed), and 1 bathroom. Keep in mind that this means you will be sharing a room with other women, please be prepared for that!
You are welcome to bring in your own shotgun to hunt with you, or there will be rentals available. We will need to know at least one month prior if you plan to bring your own weapon, or to rent.
If you are bringing your own shotgun, a 20GA is recommended. For ammunition, we recommend 3 boxes of #5 or #6 shot for the tower hunt, and 6-8 boxes of #7.5 or #8 shot.
For tipping, plan for $30/gal for the tower hunt, $40/gal for the upland classic quail hunt, and $45/gal for the driven hunt - bringing the total recommended tip to $115/gal for the weekend. Please plan to bring CASH for tips. Tipping is not included in the pricing of this trip.
TARGET SPECIES, REGULATIONS AND PROCESSING OF TAXIDERMY OR MEAT HARVEST PLAN.
For this trip we will be targeting upland birds! Our tower hunt will feature pheasants. Saturday afternoon for our upland classic hunt we will target pheasant, quail and chukar. Sunday morning for our Prairie Classic driven pheasant hunt we will be targeting pheasants. Because we will be hunting on a preserve, we are required to have a South Carolina Shooting Preserve Permit. For SC residents and non-residents this permit is $8.50. The price of this hunt includes the cleaning of our birds from our gracious guides.
If you plan to have any taxidermy done from your harvests - our outfitter can recommend a taxidermist for you. If you prefer to have your own taxidermist handle your mounts, plan to bring a cooler that is large enough to hold your harvests. If you do not plan to have any taxidermy done, plan to bring a cooler to hold your meat - as well as ice packs.

MEET YOUR COORDINATOR
Courtney will be your coordinator for this trip. She is from the midlands of South Carolina. She was lucky enough to be introduced to whitetail hunting at a young age and fell in love with the outdoors. Courtney joined the Her Wilderness family in spring of 2022, and hasn’t looked back since! In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling to new places. This trip, Courtney is most looking forward to harvesting her first pheasant, as well as meeting and uplifting like-minded women who enjoy exploring the outdoors. We can’t wait to see you in South Carolina!
