TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
Come join us for the FREE Missouri Meet Up! Will be hiking the woods and fields within the Whetstone Conservation Area to try our luck at finding some sheds. Every year, starting mid February, whitetail bucks’ testosterone levels fall causing them to drop their antlers. Around this time of year many hunting seasons are closed making shed hunting the perfect excuse to get back into the outdoors and off the couch! Plan to arrive at Whetstone Conservation Area at 9 am.
This is also a PERFECT way to introduce kids to the outdoors and hunting. With some being younger or just not quite ready to use a weapon, shed hunting introduces them to the world of whitetail! With fewer creatures, critters, and irritating vegetation during this time of year, little ones can explore the woods more freely and learn how to look for deer signs.
Shed hunting requires NO previous experience and is an awesome activity for new hunters of any age. There is no set end time on this social meet up. Whether you want to stay for an hour or so or until dark is completely up to you! Just make sure you pack enough water and snacks to last you.
Reminder: This is a HerWilderness AND Little Wilderness event, so please be mindful that there will be little ones at this event.
What to bring:
Good hiking shoes/boots
Hydration pack
Backpack or lanyard to hold sheds
