Roughin' It... Wyoming Style! Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime! We’re heading to the stunning wilderness of Cody, Wyoming, for our annual 4-day, 3-night backcountry horseback trip. Eight women will saddle up and explore the most remote corners of Wyoming, with mules carrying our gear as we venture deep into the wild. This is a stationary trip, meaning we’ll set up a basecamp in a pristine location and remain there for the duration of our adventure, with plenty of short rides to enjoy along the way. Don’t worry if you don’t have much horseback riding experience—this trip is open to all skill levels. We’ll take things slow, letting the gorgeous winding rivers and mountain vistas unfold around us.
Expect an authentic, rustic experience! We’ll be staying in canvas tents, using outdoor toilets, and enjoying fire-cooked meals in the heart of Wyoming, just a stone’s throw from Yellowstone National Park. This kind of wilderness trip comes with its own set of challenges—think unpredictable weather, trail conditions, flooding, and maybe even a bear or two! But that’s part of the charm, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with our trusted outfitter and his experienced pack of horses for this journey.
This is your chance to take a break from the hustle. At camp, there’s no agenda, no schedule, no pressure—just pure freedom to do absolutely nothing... except relax! This is your chance to unplug, unwind, and let the rhythm of nature take over. Whether you're kicking back by the fire, soaking in the views, or just enjoying the peace and quiet, this is your time to step away from the daily grind and fully embrace the wilderness. Let go of your to-do list, silence your phone (there’s no signal anyway!), and let nature’s soundtrack of birds, streams, and rustling leaves be your only "plan." It’s the ultimate opportunity to reset, recharge, and truly relax without a single thing to think about except what’s for dinneror maybe even just the next great nap under the sky!
Sunday: Plan to arrive around 4P.M. MDT, on Sunday June 29th for a meet and greet with your fellow horseback riders at our Airbnb in Cody, Wyoming, followed by dinner at the well-known Proud Cut Saloon. If you’re like us, we like to plan ahead- so take a look at their menu here ( Eat — Proud Cut Saloon). The town of Cody is known for hosting a rodeo every night and if our group feels up to it, we will definitely check it out! After our evening we can head back to the Airbnb and enjoy some relaxation or head off to bed to get a good night of sleep.
Monday: We’ll depart our Airbnb and meet up with our guides at the designated trailhead. From there, we’ll ride into the Shoshone National Forest, where we’ll spend the next two nights. The journey takes us through mountain valleys, sparkling streams, and across scenic passes. Along the way, we’ll set up camp near pristine lakes and rivers—our "home sweet home" for the weekend! After settling in, our camp chef will prepare a hearty dinner over the fire.
Tuesday: This will be our full day at camp. You can either ride out to a remote fishing spot or explore the area on horseback. If you'd prefer a break from riding, feel free to hike, relax at camp, or enjoy a good book. For those interested in fishing, make sure to bring your fly or spin rods, along with appropriate flies or lures. Note: You will need a Wyoming Fishing License (daily licenses: $6 for residents, $14 for non-residents). Please keep in mind while we are at camp there is no planned itinerary. This is your chance to really take a step away from your life and into nature to do NOTHING BUT RELAX!
Wednesday: In the morning, we’ll pack up camp and head back to the trailhead, arriving in the afternoon. Plan to depart from Cody after 3 PM MDT.
Please note: Due to the nature of this trip, sharing accommodations is likely. Our guides also have a weight limit for riders of 250 lbs, in order to ensure the safety and well-being of both the horses and riders. This limit is strictly enforced.
This is a true backcountry adventure—packed with wild beauty and unforgettable memories. Are you ready to rough it with us?

EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA POLICY
We want to ensure that every trip with Her Wilderness is enjoyable and memorable, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Mother Nature has a significant impact on our outdoor adventures, so we encourage you to approach each trip with a positive attitude and a "go with the flow" mindset. If this feels unreasonable to you, we kindly ask that you reconsider registering for our events. Weather can be unpredictable, affecting activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing, and our top priority is always your safety. For instance, if your trip is focused on duck hunting but our guide believes a goose hunt is more feasible, we will follow their expert recommendation. If this kind of flexibility is not something you're comfortable with, we encourage you to think twice about joining us. We expect all participants to maintain a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances. Many of our trips have faced changes, cancellations, or rescheduling, yet the understanding and adaptability of the group have made all the difference that still allows for an incredible experience! We take pride in creating fun experiences, even in challenging situations. Please be aware that our trips may involve sharing accommodations with others, unpredictable weather that could impact planned activities, limited bathroom facilities for larger groups, and the possibility of not harvesting the specific animal you hoped for. These are real scenarios that can arise, and while we’ll do our best to minimize issues, they can happen. We strive to maintain a drama-free and stress-free environment. If any participant brings negativity or drama, they will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be allowed to return. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping a cool, calm, and collected attitude throughout the trip. We truly appreciate each of our customers and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all participants. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories together!
