TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
Get ready for the adventure you’ve been anticipating! We’re set to explore Alaska like never before. This incredible journey includes a relaxing Nordic spa experience, thrilling bear viewing, an unforgettable fly-in fishing trip, halibut fishing in the renowned Halibut Capital of the World, salmon fishing on the iconic Kenai Peninsula, and so much more! Please plan to arrive at Anchorage Airport around 11 AM on Sunday, July 14th, and prepare for departure from Anchorage on Sunday, July 20th, after 8 PM. This trip is designed for those who want to experience it all—we’ll be moving between various lodging locations to make the most of our time together.
Day 1: July 14th
We will gather at Anchorage Airport by 11:00 AM and embark on a scenic drive down the Sterling Highway to our accommodations in Soldotna, AK. After a long day of travel, we’ll spend the evening relaxing in the Airbnb, allowing everyone to unwind and get to know each other.
Day 2: July 15th
We’ll rise early for an exciting day of salmon fishing on the iconic Kenai Peninsula. During this season, we’ll fish the productive gravel bars along the refuge waters of the upper Kasilof River. This area not only offers excellent fishing opportunities but also showcases the natural beauty of Alaska, with chances to spot moose and other wildlife as we drift or motor along the scenic 9-mile stretch. The salmon here are fast-moving and influenced by the tides, so we may need to adjust our start time for optimal fishing conditions. You’ll have the option to use either conventional or fly gear, as our guides keep both on hand. They are dedicated to providing personalized instruction, ensuring you become proficient in the specific techniques required to catch sockeye salmon. Expect them to stand beside you in the river, offering tips and fine-tuning your sockeye flossing skills. Their goal is to help you succeed, and they will put in the effort needed to get you completely dialed in. After a rewarding day on the water, we’ll return to our Airbnb to unwind, shower, and relax for the evening.
Day 3: July 16th
We’ll arrive at the Talon Air headquarters, where we will check in before embarking on a thrilling bear viewing and float plane fishing experience. This adventure (approximately 6 hours) begins with a scenic 30-minute flight to Redoubt Bay on the west side of Cook Inlet, aboard a classic Alaskan float plane. As you fly, you’ll be surrounded by stunning mountains and towering 10,000-foot volcanoes. Upon landing at the lake, a professional guide will transfer you to one of their 19-foot boats to kick off your salmon fishing day. The guide will provide spinning rods and reels, fishing tackle, rain gear, hip boots, and bug repellent if needed. Wildlife sightings are guaranteed, including beavers, otters, ducks, loons, swans, and bald eagles. You’ll have the unique opportunity to observe Alaskan brown and black bears fishing for salmon with their cubs, getting as close as 30 feet from these magnificent creatures, all from the safety of your guide’s boat. At the end of the trip, weather permitting, the return flight will take you on a breathtaking glacier flyover. Each angler is allowed a limit of three salmon. After a day filled with adventure, we’ll head to our lodging for the evening, where you can settle in and relax and SHOWER!
Day 4: July 17th
At last, we have our first free day! There’s no rush this morning, so enjoy a few extra hours of sleep. We’ll depart from our airbnb to Homer, AK, sometime in the morning. Depending on our lodging arrangements, we may head directly to Homer Spit or check into our Airbnb if it’s available. After our morning of driving we’ll head down to explore the charming Homer Spit. Stroll along the picturesque boardwalk, browse local artisan shops, and indulge in delicious seafood at one of the many eateries offering fresh catches. The vibrant atmosphere and stunning ocean views make it the perfect place to relax and unwind after an action-packed day. As the sun sets over the mountains, we will make our way back to our airbnb to settle in and prepare for an entire free day tomorrow!
Day 5: July 18th
Wow! We’ve had an action-packed schedule so far, and today is your chance to embrace a well-deserved day of freedom. Day 6: July 19th
Get ready for an unforgettable day in the breathtaking landscapes of Homer, Alaska! We will spend most of our day on an exhilarating halibut fishing adventure, where you'll set sail on a charter boat into the pristine waters of Kachemak Bay. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for sea otters, seals, and the majestic bald eagles soaring above! Once we reach the prime fishing grounds, the real excitement begins! With guidance from our seasoned captain, you'll drop your lines and feel the thrill of reeling in these incredible flatfish. Whether you're a seasoned angler or trying your hand at fishing for the first time, the adrenaline rush of landing a halibut is an experience like no other. And don't worry—our crew will be there to assist you every step of the way! This renowned restaurant offers stunning views and delicious local cuisine, providing the perfect setting to reflect on the unforgettable experiences we’ve shared. EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA POLICY
We want to ensure that every trip with Her Wilderness is enjoyable and memorable, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Mother Nature has a significant impact on our outdoor adventures, so we encourage you to approach each trip with a positive attitude and a "go with the flow" mindset. If this feels unreasonable to you, we kindly ask that you reconsider registering for our events. Weather can be unpredictable, affecting activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing, and our top priority is always your safety. For instance, if your trip is focused on duck hunting but our guide believes a goose hunt is more feasible, we will follow their expert recommendation. If this kind of flexibility is not something you're comfortable with, we encourage you to think twice about joining us. We expect all participants to maintain a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances. Many of our trips have faced changes, cancellations, or rescheduling, yet the understanding and adaptability of the group have made all the difference that still allows for an incredible experience! We take pride in creating fun experiences, even in challenging situations. Please be aware that our trips may involve sharing accommodations with others, unpredictable weather that could impact planned activities, limited bathroom facilities for larger groups, and the possibility of not harvesting the specific animal you hoped for. These are real scenarios that can arise, and while we’ll do our best to minimize issues, they can happen. We strive to maintain a drama-free and stress-free environment. If any participant brings negativity or drama, they will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be allowed to return. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping a cool, calm, and collected attitude throughout the trip. We truly appreciate each of our customers and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all participants. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories together!
