TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
Brand new to bowhunting?? Wanting to check a Missouri Whitetail off your bucket list? This is THE trip for you. Coordinator Kyndel Hagedorn will be scouting weeks prior to put you in a spot that gives you the best chance at shooting a whitetail doe with your bow. On this trip you will be hunting out of either a “Hang-on” or a “Climber” (please see below for pictures references). If you have not hunted out of either DO NOT WORRY! This is a trip for learning and the coordinator will work with you to make sure you are comfortable in either one before you head out into the woods.
“HANG ON” Tree Stand
“CLIMBER” Tree Stand
You will need to bring these items yourself:
Safety Harness (coordinator may have some that will fit you)
Compound bow or Crossbow
Arrows/bolts
Broad head
Hunting clothes/shoes
Hunting license and tag
Binoculars (recommended)
Range finder (recommended)
Please plan to arrive Thursday evening to go out for dinner at a local restaurant for a meet and greet. On Friday morning, things will kick off right away with breakfast provided at the cabin to fuel you up for a day of learning. We will be using Friday morning to go over topics such as:
Hunter safety
How to properly use a safety harness
Safety Harnesses will be required to hunt. Please plan on bringing your own or contact Kyndel who has a few extra that may fit you.
How to use: Hang on and climbing deer stands
How to shoot out of an elevated deer stand
Whitetail signs and how to choose the best spot for a stand
How to use a topographic map
How to process meat
Depending on how Friday morning goes and how much the hunters already know, we will either spend Friday evening scouting or start our hunting! On Saturday, we will be hunting in the morning and evening. If you want to sit all day you can, just make sure you bring snacks and a drink to keep you fueled! We will also be hunting Sunday morning before your departure. Evenings will be spent cooking dinner, hanging out at the cabin, and processing our deer if we shoot one. Plan to arrive anytime after 7 P.M. , on Thursday. Prepare to leave Sunday afternoon.
LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS
You will be staying at the cabin on the coordinator’s family farm. Depending on deer patterns you will either be hunting on the farm or going to public ground 20 min away (where you will be hunting at will be determined the week of). Kyndel’s family cabin sits on a little over a hundred acres, has a loft with two sets of bunk beds and a queen bed, 1.5 bath, and a bar/small kitchen area.
TARGET SPECIES, REGULATIONS AND PROCESSING OF TAXIDERMY OR MEAT HARVEST PLAN.
We are hunting Whitetail deer! We will either be hunting in Callaway or Montgomery County (depending on how scouting goes), both of which are counties with point restrictions. Coordinators will be right by you during the hunt and will be able to help you determine if a deer is legal or not. We plan to hunt Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning as well. If you do not want to get down between the morning and evening hunts, you have the option to hunt all day Friday if you please! We will have our afternoons free to hangout in the lodge, explore Princeton, or play pool! We will be cleaning the deer and bringing them home. If you are flying, we will need to freeze and ship it to your house as deer provide a lot of meat that may not fit in a luggage bag. There are also a few local deer processors that we can take your deer to, to then have the meat shipped to your house. If you are driving we recommend you bring plenty of cooler space. Depending on the time we have we will either be able to completely debone the deer meat or may have to quarter it up.
