TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

Get ready to explore one of America’s easternmost national parks: Acadia National Park, located in the state of Maine. We’re going to get all the fall feels during this trip as we visit the national park during peak leaf peeping season and add an extra special activity to the weekend: a bioluminescent kayaking excursion.

Sure to be a weekend to remember, this trip is open to five registrants who will become fast friends as we explore Bar Harbor together and get to know each other at our cozy Airbnb. Plan to arrive in Bar Harbor in the afternoon or evening on Thursday, at which point we will all get dinner together and get to know one another. On Friday, we will have some free time to explore or do some shopping before getting a practice paddle in with our kayaking guides during the afternoon. This time will make sure everyone is comfortable with kayaking–beginners are welcome–before we all regroup for a nighttime paddle Friday night. For those who have never experienced it, some waterways have phytoplankton that glow when they move in the darkness. Bar Harbor is well-known for this phenomenon, especially given how little light pollution is present in the area. It’s a truly serene and magical experience to watch the dark waters glow with every paddle of the kayak. After a restful night sleep, we will head to Acadia National Park on Saturday for a full day of hiking and exploring. The hiking in this park is leisurely, and there’s not much elevation gain, but there are plenty of scenic vistas! Finally, Sunday morning, we will all head our separate ways as we depart for wherever you call home.
