TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

Pack your passport! British Columbia, Canada, here we come. We are setting out for a wild adventure across the border to the Fraser River in Canada to battle the largest, strongest fish in freshwater, white sturgeon. We will be targeting  sturgeon ranging between 2-12 feet long, weighing up to 1000 pounds. Our guide fights these sturgeon 12 months out of the year, who is well known as the Sturgeon “whisperer.” On this trip you will learn about the conservation of the white sturgeon. We will be participating in the tagging program through the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society, meaning we will assist with scanning, tagging and measuring each fish.

This trip will accommodate 4 women, giving us all the opportunity to catch a sturgeon within the 2 days of fishing. With how large the sturgeon can be, I imagine we will all be using teamwork to assist each other getting the fish to the boat. Plan to arrive Thursday, August 8 after 4:00 PM. We will be fishing both Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Plan to depart Sunday, August 11, Airbnb checkout is 11:00 AM.

LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS

Our Airbnb will be located in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Our Airbnb is within 30 min of the Fraser River, where we will be fishing. The heritage cabin was built in 1912 in a meadow, surrounded by valley views, mountain trails and creeks. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, 4 beds, meaning everyone will have their own bed to sleep. There is only 1 bathroom, in which we will need to be mindful of. The weather in August should give us plenty of time to be outside within the company of each other, exploring trails and soaking up the valley views in the hot tub. There is a full kitchen, as well as an outside grill for dinners. Plenty of room to relax, hang out and socialize.

TARGET SPECIES, REGULATIONS AND PROCESSING OF TAXIDERMY OR MEAT HARVEST PLAN.

We will be catching white sturgeon! For this trip, you will need a freshwater fishing license and a sturgeon conservation tag. There are multi-day licenses that can be purchased online prior to the trip. We will fish from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday and Saturday on the Fraser River. We will have time in the evenings to rest from fighting river monsters all day, and prepare for the next. Sturgeon will be caught and released, meaning no cleaning or having to worry about how to transport meat back home. The Fraser River is all wild fish, no hatchery fish. These sturgeon can reach ages up to 150 years old. Our guide has personally scanned and tagged over 22,000 sturgeon in the Fraser River.

EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA POLICY

There are times that our trips do not go exactly as planned or advertised. Mother nature plays a large role in how we are able to spend time outdoors. We ask that you come into every single Her Wilderness trip with a positive attitude and “go with the flow” mindset for the duration of your trip. If that seems unreasonable, we kindly ask that you do not register for our events. The weather is unpredictable and can impact hiking, hunting, fishing, and our number #1 priority, your safety! For example, if your trip is geared towards hunting ducks, but right now the guide can only confidently offer a successful goose hunt, we will go with the guide's recommendation. If a situation like this will upset you then please do not register for a trip with us. We expect every woman to have a positive attitude no matter the circumstances.
