MINNESOTA NEW YEARS ICE FISHING WEEKEND

MINNESOTA NEW YEARS ICE FISHING WEEKEND

DECEMBER 31ST, 2025 - JAN 3RD, 2026

REGISTRATION OPENS: FRIDAY 10/03/2025

COORDINATOR: TONI PARNELL

SAVE YOUR SPOT

We’re heading back to the frozen wonderland of Ottertail County, Minnesota for another unforgettable weekend on the ice! This time, we’re switching up the challenge, targeting Northern Pike with traditional spearing tactics and chasing down hard-fighting Walleyes. With expert guides leading us to their favorite spots, you can count on plenty of action, adventure, and camaraderie.

Whether you’ve never set foot on the ice or you’re a seasoned winter angler, this trip is designed to blend education, adrenaline, and empowerment. You’ll learn how to attract and spear aggressive Pike through large ice openings, using bright decoys and proven techniques. When the spears are set aside, we’ll grab the rods and go after Walleyes, while also enjoying a bonus chance at trophy panfish like Crappies and Bluegills. Each day includes a hearty hot lunch served right on the ice, the perfect way to recharge and warm up before diving back in.

No gear? No problem. Our guides provide everything you’ll need: spears, decoys, rods, Vexilars, and even live imaging sonar for a next-level look under the ice. You’ll also get one-on-one instruction to help you feel confident in your skills. Already have your own gear? Bring it along we’d love to see you use what you know best! To top it off, our guides will clean and package the fish we do keep, ready for you to bring home.

After a full day outdoors, we’ll retreat to a cozy lakeside Airbnb to unwind, reconnect, and share stories. With shared bedrooms, a full kitchen for group meals, and plenty of space for late-night laughter, this lodge-style stay is all about comfort and community. Expect to share a bed or room with another guest, just part of the cozy group atmosphere that makes these trips so memorable.

A few important notes:

  • You’ll need a 2025 Minnesota Fishing License and a Dark House Spearing License.

  • Please bring a small cooler for transporting fish fillets home.

  • Walleyes caught outside the slot limit will be released immediately.

This trip is more than a weekend of fishing, it’s a chance to push your limits, learn new skills, and connect with a group of adventurous women who thrive on swapping comfort zones for spear holes. Join us for two days on the ice and a lifetime of stories to bring back home.

Our mission is to empower women through meaningful outdoor experiences, whether that’s hunting, fishing, hiking, or simply stepping into nature with confidence. Every trip we offer is designed to help you grow, connect, and feel truly alive. We know outdoor adventures can feel intimidating, especially if you’re new to it. That’s why our trips are women-only, designed to be welcoming, safe, and encouraging. No judgment. No pressure. Just a group of like-minded women supporting each other as we explore new skills and discover new passions.

We appreciate your understanding as this helps foster a sense of camaraderie and community among all attendees. Feel free to socialize in the kitchen and living areas or enjoy the fresh air outside. Whether you’re joining us for a quick weekend getaway or an extended stay, we strive to choose an environment that nurtures a sense of community while providing all the comforts of home. FAQ’S AND POLICY

Yes, we know this part might seem a bit tedious, but it’s important! We kindly ask that everyone who registers for a trip visits the FAQs and Policy page on our website. If you sign up for a trip without reviewing this information, it’s your responsibility. There’s a wealth of valuable information there that could influence your decision. Please make sure to check out all the FAQs and Policies on our website before signing up for a trip with us. Thank you!

TRIP EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA POLICY

At Her Wilderness, our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and empowering outdoor experience for every woman who joins us. That said, outdoor adventures come with a level of unpredictability, especially when weather, wildlife, and group dynamics are involved. We ask all participants to bring a flexible mindset and a positive attitude. Weather conditions, guide recommendations, and other factors may require last-minute changes to activities, schedules, or game pursued (for example, switching from a duck hunt to a goose hunt if conditions call for it). These decisions are made with your safety and the quality of the experience in mind. If adaptability and going with the flow are not things you're comfortable with, we respectfully suggest reconsidering your participation in our trips.

What You Can Expect:

  • Outdoor conditions may change plans—including hunts, hikes, or water access.

  • You may share lodging with others.

  • Some locations may have limited facilities.

  • There is no guarantee of harvesting a specific species.

  • We do everything we can to deliver a great experience—no matter the challenge.

What We Expect:

  • A respectful, go-with-the-flow attitude.

  • Willingness to adapt to changes in schedule or activity.

  • Zero tolerance for drama, negativity, or behavior that impacts the group.

We maintain a strict no-drama policy. Any participant who brings negativity, disrupts the group dynamic, or disrespects staff or others will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be invited back to future events. We are here to build community, confidence, and lasting memories in the outdoors. Thank you for being part of that mission and for helping us keep our trips positive, welcoming, and fun for all!

TRIP REGISTRATION AND CONTACT INFORMATION

We’re thrilled to announce a new booking and payment system aimed at enhancing your experience! Starting October 1, 2024, all trip registrations will be processed through WeTravel. Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email via the WeTravel platform. Your trip coordinator will then reach out with detailed information about your adventure and schedule two virtual video meetings for all trip attendees. The coordinator will share their email and other contact information with you at their discretion, so please respect their boundaries and contact them only through the provided information. A quick reminder: personal social media profiles are not the best way to reach out to your coordinator. During the virtual meetings, hosted on Google Meet, you’ll discuss important details such as packing lists, travel plans, and more. To ensure smooth communication, please register with a valid email address that you check regularly. If you have any questions or need assistance regarding the trip, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at questions@herwilderness.co. We look forward to making your experience exceptional!
