Are you ready for an unforgettable fall hunting experience rooted in community, connection, and confidence in the outdoors? This October, Her Wilderness is taking 8 women to western North Dakota where the sky comes alive with the breathtaking migration of Sandhill cranes, ducks, and Canada geese. Whether you're new to hunting or a seasoned waterfowler, this trip offers the perfect blend of skill-building, camaraderie, and high-adrenaline action in a supportive, all female environment. This isn't just a hunt, it's an immersive outdoor experience designed to foster confidence, independence, and lasting friendships.

Itinerary Overview:

  • Wednesday: Arrival, meet & greet, orientation, gear check, and group dinner to kick off the adventure.

  • Thursday & Friday: Full hunting days—Sandhill cranes in the morning, ducks and geese in the evening.

  • Saturday morning: Final reflections, clean-up, and departures (with full hearts and coolers!).

Our primary target will be the iconic Sandhill crane—also known as the “ribeye of the sky” for their rich, steak-like flavor. These incredible birds migrate through North Dakota in massive flocks, and their huge silhouettes are a sight to see. With wingspans up to seven feet, they are a unique species to hunt. Evenings will shift focus to ducks and Canada geese, where we’ll set up to call in flocks for an exciting sunset shoot. But this trip is more than just harvesting birds, it’s about empowerment and connection. Every Her Wilderness experience is built around cultivating outdoor confidence, creating space for women to learn, share, and thrive in a traditionally male-dominated space. Whether you’re learning how to set decoys, call geese, clean your first bird, or simply soaking in the sunrise with your new crew, you’ll be supported every step of the way. As a group, we’ll clean, tag, and prep all harvested birds according to North Dakota Game and Fish regulations. This includes leaving one fully feathered wing or the head attached for identification during transport. Whether you plan to cook your birds or preserve them as a mount, we’ll guide you through every step of the storage and travel process to ensure legality and freshness.

What You’ll Need:

  • A nonresident small game or waterfowl license

  • A $30 Sandhill crane permit

  • Zone 1 is our primary hunting area (west of U.S. Highway 281)

  • Daily Limits:

  • Sandhill Cranes: 3 per day

  • Ducks: 6 per day (species & gender restrictions apply)

  • Canada Geese: 8 per day (Zones 2 & 3) or 5 (Missouri River Zone)

This trip is ideal for women seeking a genuine, guided hunting experience in one of North America’s premier flyways. With expert leadership, a welcoming vibe, and the thrill of fall migration, you’ll leave with new skills, new friends, and stories you’ll be telling for years to come. Limited to 8 women so secure your spot now and be part of this incredible adventure!

EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA POLICY

We want to ensure that every trip with Her Wilderness is enjoyable and memorable, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Mother Nature has a significant impact on our outdoor adventures, so we encourage you to approach each trip with a positive attitude and a "go with the flow" mindset. If this feels unreasonable to you, we kindly ask that you reconsider registering for our events. Weather can be unpredictable, affecting activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing, and our top priority is always your safety. For instance, if your trip is focused on duck hunting but our guide believes a goose hunt is more feasible, we will follow their expert recommendation. If this kind of flexibility is not something you're comfortable with, we encourage you to think twice about joining us. We expect all participants to maintain a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances. Many of our trips have faced changes, cancellations, or rescheduling, yet the understanding and adaptability of the group have made all the difference that still allows for an incredible experience! We take pride in creating fun experiences, even in challenging situations. Please be aware that our trips may involve sharing accommodations with others, unpredictable weather that could impact planned activities, limited bathroom facilities for larger groups, and the possibility of not harvesting the specific animal you hoped for. These are real scenarios that can arise, and while we’ll do our best to minimize issues, they can happen. We strive to maintain a drama-free and stress-free environment. If any participant brings negativity or drama, they will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be allowed to return. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping a cool, calm, and collected attitude throughout the trip. We truly appreciate each of our customers and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all participants. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories together!
