TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

We are heading to Malcom, Iowa for a fun weekend of coyote hunting! We will be hunting until early morning hours  with thermal AND night vision scopes for coyotes with a local avid coyote hunter. We will hunt all night Friday night and until midnight on Saturday night. These predators are most active during the night and under the cover of darkness, so this type of hunting offers a great opportunity to harvest coyotes. The state of Iowa has a long history of coyote hunting, dating back to the early 1900s. Over the years, the state has developed a set of regulations and guidelines to manage the coyote population and ensure ethical hunting practices. In Iowa, coyote hunting is allowed year-round and hunters must have a valid hunting license!  Plan to arrive between 3pm - 5pm, on Friday. Please try to make it to the airbnb no later than 5pm as we will be eating together and then going out that night to hunt as soon as it’s dark! Prepare to leave Sunday late morning.

LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS

We will be staying in a cabin at the Sunset Hills Bison Ranch by Malcom Iowa . The cabin is nestled in the beautiful Iowa countryside with bison grazing nearby. There is a full kitchen and some of your meals will be included. Friday night, pizzas will be provided in the airbnb, Saturday Kim your coordinator will be cooking up late brunch after you all sleep in. Before you head out on Saturday night everyone will be going out to eat together (this is not included in the trip cost) and on Sunday after another morning of sleeping in, Kim will cook up breakfast and you will all be on your way home!

There will be 5 beds and 5 attendees on this trip, you will have to share a room and a bathroom with others on this trip! This cozy cabin is located on a 5 acre property with horses, bison and other small animals and birds. You will be surrounded by wide open land! All guests have access to large outdoor space as well as walking paths, there is a  seasonal 1.6 mile walking trail around the bison enclosure that is peaceful but may be unavailable due to the bison herd dynamics. Safety is the number one concern. The cabin is located on a working ranch. They specialize in Agritourism. There is a retail store with novelty items, bison meat and farm fresh eggs available for you to purchase! Please note that during the months of September - December we do have crops to harvest. This means there will be heavy machinery and tractors on property and the dryers on the grain bins may be running. These dryers are loud and will be heard from the cabin. It will be a great experience to stay and learn about some of the things that happen on this working farm in Iowa! The drive to our hunting areas will be around 10-15 mins from our lodging location.

EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA POLICY

We want to ensure that every trip with Her Wilderness is enjoyable and memorable, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Mother Nature has a significant impact on our outdoor adventures, so we encourage you to approach each trip with a positive attitude and a "go with the flow" mindset. If this feels unreasonable to you, we kindly ask that you reconsider registering for our events. Weather can be unpredictable, affecting activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing, and our top priority is always your safety. For instance, if your trip is focused on duck hunting but our guide believes a goose hunt is more feasible, we will follow their expert recommendation. If this kind of flexibility is not something you're comfortable with, we encourage you to think twice about joining us. We expect all participants to maintain a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances. Many of our trips have faced changes, cancellations, or rescheduling, yet the understanding and adaptability of the group have made all the difference that still allows for an incredible experience! We take pride in creating fun experiences, even in challenging situations. Please be aware that our trips may involve sharing accommodations with others, unpredictable weather that could impact planned activities, limited bathroom facilities for larger groups, and the possibility of not harvesting the specific animal you hoped for. These are real scenarios that can arise, and while we’ll do our best to minimize issues, they can happen. We strive to maintain a drama-free and stress-free environment. If any participant brings negativity or drama, they will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be allowed to return. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping a cool, calm, and collected attitude throughout the trip. We truly appreciate each of our customers and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all participants. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories together!
