TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
We are heading back to West Texas for the hunt you’ve all been waiting for: an epic sandhill crane hunt with our friends over at Tejas Waterfowl. THIS TIME WE ARE OFFERING A COUPLES HUNT! Crane hunting is truly one of the fastest growing species in the waterfowl world to hunt and for good reason...they decoy like a dream! The Texas Panhandle winters thousands of cranes that give you plenty of action. This is truly a hunt like no other! The guides are happy to clean your birds or they will show each of you in detail how to clean them yourselves. Sandhill Crane meat is called Ribeye of the sky because it is so delicious so be sure to bring a cooler to pack your meat home with you! Dogs are not allowed on this trip.
The cost of this trip will be $2,600 PER COUPLE which will include two mornings of guided hunting and two nights of lodging at our beautiful Airbnb in Lubbock, Texas. Plan to arrive the evening of Friday Dec 27th to our Airbnb to settle in and get to know each other. We will hunt Saturday and Sunday morning, then plan to head home sometime in the afternoon on Sunday! We suggest an airline flight from 3pm or later. We will request a late check out of our airbnb if it’s possible.
Tentative Itinerary:
Friday - Arrive after 4pm. Relax - possibly go out for dinner at a local restaurant or cook at the Airbnb! Get to know everyone on the trip. Beds/rooms are first come, first serve.
Saturday - Wake up early to hunt approx 4am-12noon. Evening off to nap, relax and enjoy the area.
Sunday - Wake up early to hunt approx 4am-12noon. Depart home, we suggest an airline flight from 3pm or later. We will request a late check out of our airbnb if it’s possible.

FROM OUR AIRBNB LISTING:
The space
The Sawyer house is surrounded by large pecan trees. Originally built in 1940, this house boasts over 1500 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths (1 with tub/shower and 1 with walk-in shower in the Master), with a large 500 sq ft carpeted basement. You can see Texas Tech from the street in front of the house so it is within easy walking distance (or a fast Lime scooter ride) to the University, shops, boutiques, and part of Lubbock nightlife.
It is fully furnished with stylish modern decor. Two of the beds are queen-size with pillow-top mattresses and the third is Full-size. The 4th bed, queen-sized, is now available in the basement for larger groups or extra guests. The kitchen is fully equipped for any cooking you may want to do during your stay. The house has original hardwood floors, antique glass doorknobs throughout, and a cool reclaimed wood ceiling in the entry/living space. It is a 100-year-old home but it comes free of worry as the house has a brand new high-end HVAC system as well as new plumbing.
There is a smaller 2 bed 1 bath guest house in back so please be aware the back yard is shared between the two houses. This house is also available to book in the event you have a larger group. Full property can sleep 12. Please see my "Sawyer Guesthouse" listing by clicking on my profile. (You can book one, or both!)

THINGS TO PACK:
Shotgun & Shells: We recommend a 12- or 20-gauge shotgun with 2 - BB for shotgun shell size.
Choke - Improved or Modified Cylinder: Either choke is fine. Some prefer custom chokes and that's great too.
Hunting License, Certs, and Permits: License, Waterfowl Stamp, Crane Permit, HIP Certification, and firearm certification.
Warm Boots. Gloves, & Clothing: The key is to be prepared for any kind of weather that Mother Nature can throw at us during the season.
Rain Gear: Just in case of a rainy morning, we recommend packing some rain gear as well.
Cooler: To take home your wild game.
Gun Cleaning Supplies: It's never a bad idea to have your gun cleaning kit with you!
Camera: You'll definitely want a camera to document the hunt!
Ready to Have a Good Time! All we really ask is that you're ready to have a good time, we'll handle the rest.
