TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

We will be traveling up north in Washington, specifically Birch Bay, which is very close to the Canadian border. Hunting the Pacific Flyway near Canada, is known to have some of the best late season waterfowl hunting. We will be starting 2024 and our week off targeting ducks, specifically Washington mallards, wigeons and occasional opportunities for pintails. The daily limit for ducks in Washington is 7 per person. Limit 1 pintail per hunter, which contributes to your daily bag limit (7). This trip will be a total of 3 days, with 2 days hunting. The weather in Washington can vary by the hour, the plan is to settle down in a covered hard blind (wood), with bench seating. The bench seating provides plenty of space to store blind bags, as well as give everyone a comfortable amount of space to shoot. We will be hunting over flooded corn fields. Due to the weather in January, the hunting techniques may differ, and also may change pending how the birds decide to fly.  This trip will accommodate 6 girls within the two days, giving us plenty of time for shooting, limits and quality time together.  Plan to arrive anytime after 4:00 P.M, on Sunday. Prepare to leave Tuesday January 9th in the late afternoon, as we will be hunting Tuesday morning. If you’ve never experienced a green head, wigeon or a possible pintail shootout, this will be an amazing opportunity!

LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS

Our Airbnb is located in Birch Bay, Washington. This is a second story condo so you will need to navigate 18 stairs to enter paradise. As a corner unit, this bungalow has lots of windows and natural light. BellaLu's Beach Bungalow also boasts, not one, but two decks! The first deck is a more intimate setting for grilling dinner and enjoying the stunning sunsets over the ocean. The second deck is larger and has plenty of seating for the whole gang. Spend your evenings out under the stars and string lights with a glass of wine or mug of coffee while you chat the night away with friends. The clubhouse with its game room, racquetball court, heated indoor pool and hot tub are open year-round from 10am-9pm.

This unit has two separate bedrooms, but 3 sleeping areas. The first-floor bedroom not only has a queen-sized bed, but also an oversized ladder leading up to a cute sleeping loft with a twin bed. The second story loft bedroom is the primary bedroom containing a king bed and attached 3/4-bathroom.

Please plan to obtain a rental car.  Transportation to/from the hunting location can be condensed, once we are all at the Airbnb and can coordinate.

TARGET SPECIES, REGULATIONS AND PROCESSING OF TAXIDERMY OR MEAT HARVEST PLAN.

You will need a Washington state hunting license (3-day option available), small game license as well as a Federal Duck stamp for this trip. We will be targeting ducks, specifically mallards, wigeons, and a chance to cancel some pintail flights . We will be hunting both Monday and Tuesday Morning. The limit for ducks in Washington is 7 per person. You will have the opportunity to take home 14 birds. Plan to transport your ducks back home after the hunts. We will be cleaning our own birds, please plan to bring a knife and ziplock bags to help with this. If you have never breasted a bird before, don’t worry, we will be able to assist and educate you. Please plan to bring a soft cooler and gallon ziplock bags for your meat. If you would like to, you can transport your duck home for taxidermy, or find a local taxidermy in Washington to coordinate with. If you will be flying home, you can store your ducks in your carry on or your checked luggage. We highly recommend a small soft sided cooler for transport on the airplane.

MEET YOUR COORDINATOR

AMANDA GREW UP DEER HUNTING AND TROUT FISHING IN WESTERN WASHINGTON WITH HER FATHER BY HER SIDE, TEACHING HER ALL OF THE ROPES. FOLLOWING HER FATHER’S FOOTSTEPS, SHE VENTURED INTO WATERFOWL HUNTING IN 2017, QUICKLY FINDING A PASSION FOR CUPPED WINGS AND QUALITY TIME IN THE BLIND. FAST FORWARD 3 YEARS, AMANDA STEPPED OUT OF HER COMFORT ZONE AND TRAVELED TO OREGON FOR HER FIRST ALL-LADIES WATERFOWL HUNT. AS NERVOUS AS SHE WAS, SHE CREATED LIFETIME FRIENDSHIPS AND MEMORIES. AMANDA HAS NOT ONCE REGRETTED STEPPING OUT OF HER COMFORT ZONE AND ORGANIZED HER FIRST  ALL-WOMEN'S GOOSE HUNT AND SALMON TRIP IN 2022, IN BOTH WASHINGTON AND OREGON.

AMANDA DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A LACK IF WOMEN IN THE OUTDOOR INDUSTRY AND WANTS TO BRING CONFIDENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND FRIENDSHIPS TO THE WOMEN OF THE OUTDOORS. BEING A PART OF HER WILDERNESS, AMANDA IS ALL ABOUT SHARING THE SAME PASSION FOR THE OUTDOORS WITH OTHER WOMEN. AMANDA WOULD LIKE TO HELP OTHER WOMEN STEP OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE, TRAVEL AND EXPLORE NEW ADVENTURES IN THE PRESENCE OF MULTIPLE LADIES.

AMANDA’S FIRST HER WILDERNESS TRIP WAS A SNOW GOOSE HUNT IN STUTTGART, ARKANSAS. ON THIS HUNT, SHE MET SO MANY FRIENDLY AND SUPPORTIVE WOMEN, WHO ENCOURAGED AMANDA TO JOIN HER WILDERNESS AS A COORDINATOR FOR WASHINGTON. YOU CAN FIND AMANDA IN THE DUCK BLIND, SEARCHING FOR TURKEYS & DEER OR EVEN CASTING A POLE IN THE WATER. AMANDA CAN’T WAIT TO SHARE NEW EXPERIENCES WITH YOU!
