TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION
Let’s go shed hunting! Your coordinator MacKenzie is local to Western, MN and puts on a ton of miles every year chasing after white tail deer sheds! This year she wants you to join her! She will be scouting public land and private farms for deer activity and work some magic to get permission for our group of 10 to do some shed hunting. We will be doing a lot of walking in your rubber boots or waterproof boots, so this trip is not for the faint of heart. Come prepared to put on some miles and spend a good chunk of time outdoors! Plan to arrive anytime after 7 P.M. on Friday night and prepare to leave Sunday sometime in the afternoon.
LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS
We will be staying at the Watson Hilltop Lodge--a great place for gatherings, a perfect place for hunters. A newly renovated 4 bedroom, 2 bath lodge surrounded by thousands of acres of public hunting land. Enjoy the convenience of home and the ease of hunting out your back door. The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable accommodations for up to 10 people. You will be sharing a bed, bedroom and bathroom with others on this trip, please be prepared for that. There is a full kitchen so if you have dietary restrictions or need certain meals, you are welcome to bring what you’d like!
TARGET SPECIES, REGULATIONS AND PROCESSING OF TAXIDERMY OR MEAT HARVEST PLAN.
Shed hunting gives a new excuse to be outdoors, exercising and experiencing the woods in the spring. For hunters, it can open up new aspects of the whitetail life cycle as you become familiar with deer habitat. For non-hunters, it’s a beautiful way to explore new terrain with a goal in mind. “Shed hunting” means searching for deer antlers that naturally fall off after the rut in late winter, around February and March in most places. It also helps hunters inventory bucks that make it through hunting season. Found antlers make great wilderness-inspired decor and can also be sold or used to make crafty home goods, adornments on tools and jewelry, and healthy chew toys for dogs. Please keep what you find, unless the land owner that we have permission on is after a specific set, we always want to honor them and their many hours dedicated to their land.
