TRIP DETAILS
There is something about Alaska that changes people. Maybe it is the endless summer daylight, the snow capped mountains rising out of the ocean, or the feeling of standing knee deep in a glacial river while salmon move past your boots. Maybe it is the silence, the wildlife, the fresh air, and the reminder of just how wild and beautiful the world still is. Whether you are brand new to fishing or already experienced on the water, this trip is designed to support all skill levels. Our guides will walk you through techniques, gear, fish handling, and everything you need to feel comfortable and successful throughout the week. Many women join our Alaska trips with little to no fishing experience and leave feeling more confident than they ever imagined.
This exclusive Her Wilderness Alaska experience is designed for women who want more than just a vacation. It is for the women craving adventure, connection, challenge, rest, and unforgettable moments in one of the most breathtaking places on earth. Together, we will fish legendary rivers, fly deep into remote wilderness by float plane, watch bears in their natural habitat, explore coastal Alaska towns, and experience the kind of trip that stays with you long after you return home.
With over five years of hosting women only adventures in Alaska, Her Wilderness has carefully refined this itinerary to create the perfect balance of excitement, flexibility, comfort, and unforgettable experiences. We are so honored to share this place with you! This experience is intentionally small and application based to preserve the supportive, adventurous, and connected atmosphere that Her Wilderness trips are known for. We thoughtfully build groups of women who are excited to participate, encourage one another, and fully embrace the experience together. Only approved applicants will receive access to registration.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There is something incredibly empowering about learning new skills in Alaska surrounded by a group of adventurous women. Whether you are catching salmon for the first time, stepping onto a float plane, navigating early mornings on the water, or simply saying yes to something outside your comfort zone, this trip is designed to leave you feeling more capable, confident, and connected.

EXAMPLE ITINERARY OVERVIEW
Day 1 - Arrive at Anchorage Airport by 11:00 AM. From there, we’ll begin our scenic drive down the Sterling Highway to our accommodations in Soldotna. After settling into our cozy Airbnb, we’ll spend the evening relaxing and connecting with each other before the adventure kicks off.
Day 2 - We’ll fish the renowned Kasilof River during the peak sockeye salmon run. Float or drift along 9 miles of protected waters with moose, eagles, and wilderness all around. Whether you’ve never held a rod or are an experienced angler, our expert guides will stand beside you in the water, helping fine-tune your sockeye technique for the best possible catch. All equipment is provided.
Day 3 - This is the Alaska day you will talk about for the rest of your life. We will board a small float plane and fly across Cook Inlet into remote Alaska wilderness, surrounded by glaciers, mountains, untouched lakes, and endless stretches of wild country. Depending on conditions, we will land at either Big River Lakes or Crescent Lake, both breathtakingly remote locations only accessible by plane. Once we land, we will spend the day fishing for salmon while watching Alaska unfold around us. Brown bears often fish the shoreline nearby, sometimes within just a short distance from the boat. Eagles soar overhead, otters drift through the water, and the entire experience feels completely removed from the rest of the world. The return flight back across the inlet, often with glacier views out the windows, is just as unforgettable as the day itself. This is not just fishing. It is full Alaska wilderness immersion.
Day 4 - Sleep in and recharge before we pack up and head toward Homer, Alaska. Along the way, take in incredible Alaska views. Once we arrive in Homer, we will settle into one of Alaska’s most iconic coastal towns. Known for its mountain views, salty air, fishing harbor, local art scene, and incredible food, Homer offers the perfect balance of adventure and slower paced coastal charm. We will spend time exploring the Homer Spit, browsing local shops, eating fresh seafood, and soaking in the beauty of Kachemak Bay.
Day 5 - It’s your day, how you spend it is up to you. Explore town, kayak the bay, hike a nearby trail, enjoy an oceanfront coffee, or book an extra excursion like a wildlife tour or additional fishing charter. This open day is built in so you can follow your curiosity and make space for rest or more adventure.
Day 6 - We’ll head out on a halibut charter into Kachemak Bay to fish for these legendary flatfish. You’ll have expert instruction, stunning views, and the chance to spot sea otters, whales, seals, and eagles. In the evening, we’ll stop by Homer Fish Processing to arrange processing and prep for your catch.
Day 7 - We’ll begin our drive back north toward Anchorage, stopping along the way to organize, process, and ship everyone’s fish home before enjoying one final dinner. Once we get back to Anchorage we’ll enjoy a farewell meal at Simon & Seafort’s—one of Anchorage’s best restaurants with views to match. Please book your return flight after 8:00 PM to allow for travel, dinner, and airport check-in.
