TRIP DETAILS + INFORMATION

We are off to the beautiful country of South Africa for our first international trip! Eight ladies will have the chance to spend five days targeting South African plains game. Plan to arrive around 5PM SAST, on Sunday to meet your fellow hunters at the airport, followed by a scenic drive to our hunting camp for the week. Upon arrival at camp, we will settle in our rooms before heading to dinner. Transportation to and from the airport is included on this trip. Your coordinator Courtney has hunted at this exact camp before with these guides. She has all of the details of what traveling to Africa and hunting with our outfitter is like, be sure to send all of your questions over to her!

First thing Monday we will start our adventures out to the bush! We will start out each day with breakfast before heading out to hunt. After our morning hunt we will head back to camp for lunch and a small break, before heading back out for our afternoon hunt. Once we are done hunting for the day, our PH’s (personal hunter) will drop us off at camp for dinner and great conversation by the fire. Our hunting will be mostly the same schedule for Tuesday - Friday. This hunt includes three animals per hunter - one trophy Blue Wildebeest, one trophy Impala, and one trophy Warthog. If you would like to add on more animals to your hunt, feel more than welcome! If you choose to add on additional animals, we will need to know in advance (three months before our trip) to pass the information over to our guides.

Check out the additional animals available here:

Since we will be heading to South Africa in late July, keep in mind that it will be cold! July for South Africa is the middle of their Winter. Temperatures will reach mid 60’s in the daytime, and will be down to mid 30’s in the mornings and evenings. We will be heading out to hunt early in the morning, so it will be cooler early on but will warm up throughout the day. This trip includes five days of hunting, three animals (Blue Wildebeest, Impala & Warthog), cleaning of our animals, a personal hunter (guide), a personal tracker, 5 days of lodging, all meals, daily laundry services, and transportation to and from the airport!

LICENSING + REGULATIONS

Because we will be traveling internationally, you will need a passport. If you do not already have a passport, be sure to apply for your passport ASAP, to give plenty of time for processing - you will need your passport in hand before we depart for our trip! Licensing will be taken care of by our guides and is included in the package price. No purchasing of any licenses will be necessary. If you choose to add on an animal that needs a license, we will need to know in advance so our guides can get the proper permitting for you. (an animal on THIS pricelist with a * beside it with show what needs special licensing)

TAXIDERMY + SHIPPING

If you plan to have any taxidermy done from your harvests - our outfitter can handle that for you. If you prefer to have your own taxidermist handle your mounts, our outfitter can do the raw prep for the harvests to prep them for shipping. Once the raw prep or taxidermy is completed, our outfitter will handle setting up the shipping from South Africa to the states. Once arriving in the states, the shipping company will handle setting up the shipping from the port to your location. Shipping of all mounts will be the hunter’s responsibility. Taxidermy prices from our guide service can be viewed here: Taxidermy Price List

Although we will not be able to ship our meat from our harvests home with us, our outfitter will prepare us meals each night with out harvests from the day. The meat from our harvests will be split three ways:

  • ⅓ will feed the clients (us) and workers at camp

  • ⅓ will feed the village next door to the camp (where the families of the workers live)

  • ⅓ is donated to an oraphange in the area.

TRIP ACCOMMODATIONS + MISC. DETAILS

Our base camp for the week will be a comfortable and spacious camp at Kuche Safaris. We will have luxurious accommodations that feature South African touches such as handmade decor and handpainted wall art. We will also have a daily laundry service, so you can pack lightly! Keep in mind that you will likely be sharing a room or a bed with your other hunters – please be prepared for that! Our guides will pick us up from the airport and we will head to the camp - the camp we stay at will depend on the animals our group decides to target. We also may split time between two different camps, this way we can ensure everyone has a chance at their targeted animals! You are welcome to bring in your own rifle or bow to hunt with, or there will be rentals available. We will need to know at least three months prior if you plan to bring your own weapon, or to rent. Rentals are $50/day + $20/day for ammo.

If you are bringing your own rifle, you will need a .270 to .338 to take down plains game. If you plan to target a buffalo, you will need .375 or upwards.

AIRPORTS + TRAVEL INFORMATION

For this trip you will need to fly into the Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo International Airport) (JNB). Our guides will pick us up from the airport and we will head to the camp - the camp we stay at will depend on the animals our group decides to target. We also may split time between two different camps, this way we can ensure everyone has a chance at their targeted animals! If you plan to bring your own weapon, be sure to submit the proper documentation to your airline in the appropriate amount of time. Our guides will be able to help us collect our weapons at customs in the JNB airport. We recommend waiting to book your flights to be in sync with the other women attending to make traveling from the airport to the camp easier. Tentatively plan to arrive sometime in the morning (around 5PM SAST) on Sunday, July 23rd, and depart in the evening (around 9PM SAST) on Saturday, July 29th.

Meet your coordinator

Courtney will be your trip coordinator. She is from the small town of Lancaster, SC, just on the border of North Carolina. She was lucky enough to be introduced to whitetail hunting at a young age and fell in love with the outdoors. In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling to new places. This trip, Courtney is most looking forward to scratching a gemsbok off of her harvest list, as well as meeting and uplifting like-minded women who enjoy exploring the outdoors.

This trip is going to be an action-packed week of hunting South African plains game and adventure, and we hope you’ll join us! Please feel free to email questions@herwilderness.co with any questions about this trip!
